Wouldn't the nissan 3 litre be a better and more straightforward swap?
It'll certainly use less fuel.

if you go for the 3ltr nissan belive you don't need to cert as within 20 percent power incress and prob same mounting point if your lucky

already measured up an rb30 and it wont fit / will be a ####### tight fit

not to fussed on the idea of a vg30 v6 as they dont seem to go very well..the 3.8 however seems to go alot better

Nope. Change of engine configuration means a cert is required.
Had a mate who put a terrano 3l V6 and 5 speed into a navara, went like a cut cat and was almost a bolt in. Had to get the right radiator and move the gearbox cross-member.

I meant the v6, can't remember the engine code. RB30 would be nice but might not fit.

The vg30 would be the easiest option and is a very very good motor. It did get awarded motor of 90's after all.
And if you want to do it I have one for sale including everything you'll need including 5 speed etc.
RB30 is probably better but heavier and would be really hard to fit into the engine bay.
Or you could dp what I'm working on and that is fitting a V8 into it!
