The Wgtn Family 4wd club has arranged a charity run for the last few years to raise funds for Child Cancer. Last year they got 130 entrants, this year 30. They run the trip through the Akatarawa Forest. The Greater Wellington Council runs "summer" trips in there from time to time.

Not sure whether there would be enough space for another charity run unless the school was prepared to really push the promotion.

Would the south coast be an option? See the seals, some marine life, some 4wding, some getting stuck etc.

Bare in mind a trip around the south coast as were into Autum and heading into winter can be a great trip or a miserable trip depending on what the weatherman gives you on the day

Something like a run through the Aka's can be less exposed if the weather turns out a bit rough and you've got Orange Hut to stop off at for lunch etc
