Anyone fitted an aftermarket oil cooler to there automatic surf?

My 3lt overheats and dumps its transmission oil out whenever I tow up any steep hills, esp. going into dunedin.

I've been told to fit an external oil cooler out of the radiater as when the trans oil get hot it boils the water in the radiater.

Does this sound like the solution to my problems

It keeps the temps a lot cooler.
