onboard air using A/C compressor

Ok guys.
I have a 92 ln130 surf. My air conditioning and heater are a bit poked, so i was hoping to use the A/C compressor as an onboard air option.
My question is has anyone in welly done it? Do you need to still need to run a tank? and is the factory a/c compressor sufficient?
any help would be good!

Yep, I have onboard air/endless air what ever you want to call it, and you don't need to run a tank but if you do you only need to have a small bottle.
If you need a hand send me a PM and I can assist you.

could you run through what the kit includes? something to put oil into the air and then something to remove the oil from the air before it gets to te tires?

Kinda like that, when I get the chance I will take photo's and post them up.. and if it's not before helping Thirsty6 you will get a step by step version of it.

awesome

do you run some kinda pressure relief valve? wouldnt want it forcing air into a tank with no safety

Pressure release valuve... no it's a cut off switch, like a standard compressor on at 70 PSI and off at either 100 or 120 PSI depends what one you buy.

This is basically the set-up I will be using on my truck when I get around to it, without the oiler and catcher as my AC has a sump.

I would definitely be interested too. Have been wanting to do this with the jeep for some time but have had no idea of budget required before getting started.
And cost to get A/C emptied etc.
When are you planning on doing this, wouldn't mind popping around to watch/help/brew the coffee (or beer)
Cheers
Ian

no way!!!
A decent automotive A/C company will degas for free!
They re-use the gas for fault finding other customers cars.
This reminds me of my old supra I decided to de-gas the system myself. found a pipe at the front of the car and traced it quickly back to the AC pump.... put some pliers on, looked the other way and squeezed.
there was no hiss and instead pissed power steering fluid all over the floor.
didn't realize the pipes kinda crossed over and went different ways.

Total cost would be about $100ish, this is not including a AC pump if you have to get one.. this is for the cut off switch, air line, fittings for air line, hose clips and water trap. Will need hacksaw and two spanners some other tools.

well ya better make sure wgtntardbe is there
coz after tonight he is a real tool
can ya run it without the cut off switch ??
I only ask coz my switch in the 80 when ya turn it on, the aircon will bring the revs up about 500rpm, so if ya could run it manually and then turn it off, then that would be fine for me, do ya need a reservoir tank also or just run it straight off the pump ??

Best to have the switch, can be done without it but not best too... also no, you don't need a tank but can if you want to.
