Hey all,

Further to insurance stuff, I went down and spoke to State and they dont do the sort of thing we need. I have also spoken to my broker and he is looking into the following:

1. Insurance on a per trip basis, ie cover for x amount of days at x cost
2. Insurance on an annual basis.

Will update once I hear back. From what I've gathered it will need to be a custom policy.

Cheer,s

Bill, I've just joined this forum and note you are looking at insurance cover for 4x4 trips. The answer is simple...join the New Zealand Four Wheel Drive Association and get public liability and rural fire cover through their policy. The membership fee for 2007 will be $25 for the year and I defy you to find any cover near that rate!

Can you send me some details of the policy?

What would be the process if we wanted instant cover?

With the one I've arranged its $10 for the first day of cover per vehicle and $2 per day thereafter. We have to provide the names and addresses of all the participants before hand, and send the money in after the trip.

Bill,

Any member of a Canterbury 4wd club that is part of the Chch Combined 4wd Clubs arrangment (and thats pretty much all 8 of them I think) also gets the sort of cover the 4wd Assoc has in place. Note that this is only for public liability and rural fire cover though and personal vehicle cover remains the responsibilty of the individual owner.

Lots of us have found AMI to be the pick of the bunch when it comes to the more mainstream companies, otherwise go through a broker for the best arrangement or straight to Barleys who have specialised cover for our type of recreation.

Cheers,
Linda

I'm already covered, its more for trips so we can get the same cover as clubs do. And this is through John Barley. Public Liability and fire cover is what we need.
