gidday guys i usually float around in the nissan thread but my old man has a 95 Pajero LWB, 2.8 diesel, 5spd manual, nz new, with the factory rear locker.

we think the motor is nearing the end of its life and being the petrol head that he is he was asking me the other day what alternative motors have been put into these??

i didnt have a clue so here it is. what has been done before and how did it go??

Not sure on that model, but I own a 91' SWB with a Leyland V8 in it. You could probably throw anything in there, but making custom mounts, bellhousing etc could be a mission, not sure what would bolt straight on.

Note: Mine was originally a V6. Been through 2 diesels.

if you can find one a 4M41T 3.2 would be a good swap - a direct bolt in replacement almost given the 4M41 is the bigger capacity version of the 4M40T - just the 4M41T is finally modernised with a DOHC 16V head and common rail fuel injection, about 125kW and heaps of torque with reduced fuel consumption over the 2.8.

A leyland is a looong motor and is a mission to get in. The top rad support needs the cut and paste.
