Maratoto is still open until 9 May when there is a maintenance day and then the gate will close.

A project for 9 May is to plant young Kauri and if all the 280 trees are not planted, then there may be a day during winter when people can again assist to finish the project.

So we should plant 260 and leave 20 for a mid winter trip! :D

We did trim back several sections of the main trail on a beautiful day (if a little chilly in the breeze) but only got another 15 Kauri into the ground, so it looks like a couple more trips to plant out more might be needed over the winter months. There are around 250 trees to plant.

Keep watching for what is likely to be fairly short notice of trips, as we try to work in with predicted fine weather.

The main gate is now locked.
