safari starting

every morning when i try to start my safari ( 4.2 desiel 5speed) its like it has a flat battery turns over verry slow then speeds up
im thinking starter motor
annybody have anny better idears ?

shoulda kept to toyota
swb lux with 7mge, trailgear crossover, trailgear rear lift kit, custom front bar, runva 1200lb winch, custom snorkel, 37" Mtrs, custom deck, lockright in the rear.

Take the starter out strip it down and give it a good clean out :mrgreen: proberly got mud in it :wink:

it will be the batteries bud they need a dam good charge up the starter has been done also the altinator

A few weeks back my safari was doing the same thing, getting slower cranking then one day it wouldn't even start. Spent a while cleaning some corrosion out of the battery terminal contacts then coated them in vaseline. Started up no worries after that.

well got the batteries tested to day one was rooted got a new one
thay tested the charging its charging ok made new earth leads
next job will be pulling out the starter and cleaning it out and geting it checked
startd better now with the new bat but still like a dead bat every 5th or so start

best practise would be to replace both as although the other one may test well it will very quickly damage the new battery and severly shorten the life of both batterys.

I got away with replacing just one
89 safari, pto winch, 33x15 simexs. sliders,75mm lift . turbo intercoolered

in any multiple connected battery setup any cell that has less capacity than the other will cause the other cell to over compensate

still starting and running :D maybe both were fairly new to start with
