Did anyone watch that clip on Close up, guys on a duck shooting night/day drinking n shooting?? I must admit I thought it was funny for about 30 seconds of the clip then right at the end i thought, oooooo people aren't going to like this!! They say the Police are looking into it further now.
When I first watched it I was thinking, what the hell was the reporter thinking filming those guys drinking with guns.

I thought exactly the same thing i'm not gonna lie and say i did'nt drink most of the opening weekend, but i don't think it was a good idea to let a film crew get on camera.
I consider myself to be a responsible and very safety consious hunter but the anti gun crowd will have a field day with this.

I agree. And it only takes a few to spoil it for the rest.
I'd still like to know who saw this clip before it went to air. What planet were they on?? Someone should get a kick up the ass for it.

If they weren't drinking and handeling firearms it wouldn't even be an issue?????

No one to blame but them selves, and they will #### it for the rest of us responsible folk.

Kinda like 4 wheeling eh. A few irresponsible types ruin things tfor the rest of us

I think it helps if you keep reminding yourself that you're in a public forum.

I saw the initial report and the follow up comment last night. I thought to myself they are going to get into hot water for this. Were they drinking and shooting birds at the same time? or is just having alcohol around enough to cause trouble. How do hunters define the 7th firearm rule "avoid alcohol or drugs when handling firearms" ?

From my experience, all my hunting trips have involved alcohol, not while actually hunting/ shooting though. Didnt the reporter/ close up realise that they would be sailing close to the wind by putting that interview on air?? Yes i think that would have been typical of many mai mais around the country (maby not to that extent) but do they have to promote it, and as mentioned give the rest of the more responsible hunters a bad name.

It seems to me that during the editing of that clip there was no one there who was a responsible firearms owner. It blows me away that they didn't edit the doco in a more pc way.
Now there will be more people who think getting tanked n shooting are like salt n pepper.

I thought the guy who was being interviewed with the loaded shot gun on his shoulder wasn't a good look.

go hunting to go hunting

stay at home or go to the pub to drink piss.

Pack of fuckn idiots doing that on tv. If they wanted to be cowboys why didn't they at least wait for the cameras to stop. It almost looked like they were trying to advertise for tui.
But yeah X2 what wop said.

Who are you when you are at home anyways??

Any idiot that breaks the 7th rule of the conditions of their firearms licence is a tool and should have there firearms license confiscated.

Are you saying that you disagree with that??

Co's that would make you a tool aswell

was thinking about the 11 year old and firearm licence but when the camera zoomed back there was dad sitting there, seemed fairly netural in the reporting
and agree about the camera comment
hopefully might take a bit of the heat off last nights one

Yeah, Nige, there ARE definitely people who forget that this IS indeed a public forum. We who are into a driving sport/hobby/activity etc etc should NEVER forget that. Its having guys like those posting here, that try and set the standard, but unfortunately, some ARE too thick stupid desperate etc to heed the hints.

Yea it was better than the other incident that was on with the contrast to the piss heads, but now the animal lovers will be on the case with the wounded duck running accross the paddock. Probably better to not have any firearms/hunting stories on TV at all as it is too easy for them to be painted in a bad light.

I am agreeing and saying that some people are just thick and can't see the problem with combining alcohol and firearms ( or alcohol and 4wd's )and then putting it in the public arena.

And who am I when I am at home??? Like most male's, under the thumb and brow beaten
