well been looking around for a carby motor to put in my zuke for some more power, looked at the 3y toyotas but dont seem to be many around at the right price. then looked into the ford sierra motors. 2l twincam carby motor seem like they will do the job and ok prices on trademe at the mo. does anyone know of any bad things about these motors, parts hard to get always break down, weak?? or do they seem to be ok. any help would be kewl.

Don't know anything about the motor, but since you are changing why not go to fuel injection??

There a common swap for the 2l cortina, along with the 5 spd manual.

been told they are a pretty good engine by a few people, depends what model it is.

they are a good engine cam belt need repacling at the correct milage but even if it pops the valves are safe from the pistons

kewl sounds like the go for me then, reason for not going injected is i dont want alot of wiring as i do alot of water mud and have nowhere that doesnt get covered, and ive never had a big isue with carby motors just when it jumps around abit.

The twin cam motors are cam chain and not a belt. The twin cam 205 motors that were the cosworth ones were belt driven.

Would make an awesome motor for a 4wd due to the torque curve. Peak torque was pretty healthy and was at 2500 rpm but a heap available from idle. My car was an injected Sapphire twin cam and never gave any bother (apart from dam electrics) and due to the torque curve was a ball to drive on the open road. Whatever sped you were doing at the bottom of the kilmog north of Dunedin, you still be doing that speed at the top, still in 5th gear.

Why not the escudo? alot easier!

1) expensive motor from what ive seen
2) not enough power for me i want to run 35s and spin them faster in bogs.
3) why go easy when you can go HARD.
