Lost one like that too, and lost another up thompsons two weeks ago too... somewhere up the rock climb.

Gee i love work phones.

Back to the topic at hand...........

Popped the 15mm spring spacers in the front to level it up, and re-aligned the front diff. Noted that even after the last wheel alignment that it was toe-ing out bigtime. Pulled out the trusty tape measure and it was out by 30mm, so remedied it by way of a back-yard wheel alignment.

Also noted that the front lower control arm castor correction bolt on the left was loose, and not just a little loose. Something wrong there, when the nut is tightened to the bolt she tightens right up, but the bolt can still rotate, hence cocking up the castor. Washers are where theyre supposed to be, its got me buggered.

Didnt even get to looking at the skid plate today.

widened my trailer a bit so i can get the missile on it without having to change the frickin wheels...

tomorrows job is load the 40 onto the trailer to make sure its ok and see where the ballance point is so i can then start making the front section for spare wheels etc and make a front tie point.

Sounds like a good buy at that! Query on the factory locker tho' that will be the centre diff lock as to my knowledge no Rover left the factory with a axel locker till the current shape Disco3.

haha i got stuck at the ymac today in the mega mud part was a shocker all 4 wheels were off the ground, THANKS to the people that helped get me out of the mess i was in, then when towing it out she almost tipped right ova, prettymuch on the side as it was, as a result i have lost the hub off drivers side, the mud was up to the sidestep lol.. bit of fun, now have to fix her up :)

Unlike most Jappa 4X4 Rangies are permanent 4WD with power transferred to the end with the least grip just like a standard open axle diff. You can lock the centre diff to force power to both axles. Works in high and low range too.

Hope that helps.

fitted diff head to new cruiser housing in the rear, reassembled hub, axles and rear diff cover swapped drive flange o diff over to hilux, so no need to modify drive shaft, now gotta pull front diff and change from 4.3 to 4.1 ratio, then fit winch, wire it up, make gear box for back, grease it, oil it, check it and then go and wreck it again!!!! 2 weekends to TR so no pressure!!

Early Saturday morning, me and Sadam headed into his hut in the bush

drove as far as the river and parked up the 80 and got a lift to another hut,

about 6 hours later we fell out the door and staggered, crashed, fell down and eventually made it to Sadams hut

woke up this morning to find all sorts of cuts and scratches on our legs, went for a walk down to the river about 7am and spooked 2 deer less than 15 metres away from me, dammit, always happens when you don't have a rifle with ya, they were slow too, would of been heaps of time to try and get 2 shots off and have 2 hanging in the shed, oh well next time maybe.

walked back down the river this afternoon to the 80 and drove out

great weekend

excuse the grainy pics ( cellphone )
