UHF cb aerial on swb safari

Hey guys
Just putting a uhf in the truck ,,,where is everyoneone mounting there aerial without having to mongrelise too much,,guessing the bonnet is the most popular place ,,any handy hints etc??looking at the aerial i brought im guessing i need to de solder the plug and grommet the firewall...

Depends on if the Antenna you got with it needs a groundplane or not (groundplane independent), if the PL259 plug is presoldered may as well just push it thru an existing rubber gromet already in the firewall and sealing this back up with silicone.

Consider also if its a metal antenna or a flexi or non flexi nylon one and if its likely to get damaged, if its on the guard then its likely to be hitting branches.

It should say on the antenna packet/specs if it requires a groundplane to work properly,

Cheers making sense now ,,the aerial i brought is a dse d-4025 stainless whip says tuneable 110MHz-520MHz hope this what i need??

read today in a aussie carrvan mag that a 6 db aerial gave best alround range

they work well in aussie where its all flat :lol: problem is we have hills here :D

yeah it does say its pre tuned ,,,talked to coxy bout mounting on side of guard by bonnet on an angle plate,, think it will be the easiest just the routing of the cable could be a mission
