So i thought it was terrano gearbox time again, as i was getting some bad sounds, so rebuilt the old 1 then took this one out to find out it was the clutch plate falling to peices and that explained my noises,, so im getting ready to fit the new clutch,,,,,, and then realise the bush is worn enough that i was a size and a half above the actual input shft when i was assebling th clutch linning tool,, so about 2 ml difrent, im now thinking i should replace that,,

so i guess question 1 is does anyone have the info on what size the bush should be? so i can tell how worn it is and how much is left that i need to try get out?

question 2 is how the F%$^@N hell do i get the old 1 out,,

any info or a coppy of this part of FSM would be greatly apreciated,

i have the MT section of the FSM but yeah any info apreciated thanks,,,

will post my success or dismay as i come a ccross it, cheers

find a bolt or steel rod just a gnats finger smaller than the diameter of the hole in the bush (needs to be a tight fit).
Fill the hole and behind the bush with grease.
put the bolt/whatever into the bush
put on safety glasses and cover the area with a rag
Hit the rod/bolt.
The hydraulic pressure created by hitting the bolt into the grease and compressing it (which it cant do) will force the bush out. May take a few hits and dont forget to top up the grease as it moves out or you will just be banging for no reason.

I guess that's my tip.

I would agree with that method of removing the bush, i've never done it on a terrano but have done over ten of them on skylines etc and that's the best way i have found. Have always bought brand new ones (genuine nissan) and have yet to have to pay over ten bucks for one, so just go and buy one and replace it each time you do a clutch... for ten bucks you can't go wrong;-)

if you are struggling go find the right sized rod or something then check through your 1/2" or 3/8" drive socket set and use an old extension (incase you burr over the end) and give that a whirl, not a 100% seal but as long as your hammer is moving faster than the grease can move through the tiny little hole that might still be there then you are in business;-)

hi there, thanks s, i fully understand the possiblly hydaulic theory here, and will try for sure next time, however this time i was in a rush and when i rang nissan for a poart i asked the parts dept for advice and they said to put a cut 7/8 of the way thru each side and pry out with a screw driver, whitch i did and it worked,. but thanks guys and yes for the price of the part its not worth not doing,
