f/s 89 Pajero Exceed manual

Post by danny »

1989 Pajero Exceed. White and bronze, LWB 7 seater.

5 speed manual.

4d56 2.4L Diesel turbo. Great engine, no smoke. Starts first time every time, I warm it up every time I start it up, before driving. 260kms on the clock. The engine feels fresh, I run it with Morey's Diesel Engine Additive on every fill.

Automatic hubs, diff lock light on the dash. We haven't done any offroading in it. Thought someone on this site might want to.

4 wheel disc brakes. Great braking. Just had Sterling brake and clutch put new rotors on the rears and rebuilt both rear calipers $1000 with receipt. Brand new 4 x Michelin AT tyres fitted 1000kms ago. Not cheap. Tread is still as new.

Heated leather seats, aircon, central locking, all the Exceed model extras. Took me months to find this Pajero when we bought it, and I am very fussy. It was imported to Waiheke Island where it has lived most of its life, which is why it has low kms. Then we bought it and it has lived the quiet life in Auck since.

I had a mechanical engineer repair one piece of rust that developed in the passenger gutter. That was 2 years ago, no rust issues since.

The Pajero passed its last 3 WOF tests with a clean sheet.

I have personally changed the oil, oil filter, water, coolant and air filter every 5000kms for the 40-odd kms I have owned the Pajero. I have also replaced the gearbox oil with Redline heavy duty gearbox oil, which was $25 per 900ml and it took 3.5L.
I also changed the diff oil 2000kms ago to keep things fresh.

It's 20 years old now so it isn't immaculate, but I have kept it in top order and it has many years left in it yet. Probably as good an example 89 Pajero as you'll find these days.

Some dickhead walked the length of one side with a key a year ago, thankfully didn't go too deep on the paint.

My wife and I have owned this Pajero for 3 years now. It has been a fantastic truck for us. Reason I bought it was as a safe car with big brakes for my wife and I to drive. Reason for selling – need something more practical for children.

If you are interested, or you'd like me to email you a couple of pics, send an message to me on danny_brown@nz.yr.com or give me a call on 0212090905.

We live in One Tree Hill, Auckland.

We're looking for 3.5k.

If it doesn't sell, it's going to live life in Taranaki as a farmer's truck (my old man) - so save her from the farm life and someone please turn her into a decent offroader!

Thanks

Danny Brown
