From memory I think the japanese symbols you find on vehicles is called "Katakana". I once had a piece of paper with basic translations on it but I can't find it anymore. :?
Hey Nick, if it is Katakana ( or whatever ) then there will probably be a translator on the web we could find and post up into the Tech section save you getting asked all the time.

Yea, this is Katakana, its where the Japanese use their syllables to make english words. So it is fairly easy to translate if you have a Katakana chart and know the basics of how their alpahabet works. The top left one, in Japanese says Shiga Raitaa = Cigar Lighter. I would imagine with the amount of jap imports around there will be a site somewhere that is dedicated to these translations.

Old thread I know. But found this thread using the search. Modified the scan of the original fuse box label. Will print out and carry in my truck. Thought others might benefit from the modified picture too.

Cheers

Jase.

Also found this one. Maybe more accurate.

Hi Jase,
I'm trying to track down why the driving/spot lights are "no go" and discovered the fuse box directory is in Japanese. So thanks for your web posting. I will printout and file in the glove box for future reference.
:D

Just compared Jase's fuse indentity diagram with my Japanese diagram. THey are not identical, mine has 22 fuses whereas Jase's has 21 fuses with "33J00" at the top right hand corner. My Japanse diagram has "37J00" at the top right hand corner. My Safari is a 1992 GQ TB42 efi LWB low roof model. Does anyone have the English translation for a "37J00" fuse indentity diagram?
