Drop out cones + spring retainers + long shocks

Post by flyingbrick »

Anything wrong with buying shocks that are too long (say, 2" or 3" or something) and fitting the weld in style of retaining cone up top + retaining clips at the bottom.

Obviously you'll gain flex.. but what are the down sides?

using 3" spring lift. SWB

Yeap. but 4" springs on the front.. warren reckons they'll give around 3" :-)

Just ordered the last of it- got Patrol GQ SWB Y60 50 to 75mm Lift Rear Shock Absorber 36-5547

So wont need cones.

Its not trying to be a rock crawler lol or flex monster so don't know why i was bothering.

Maybe i should post a build thread when this arrives.

instead of making cones for them, retain the coil at both ends. Makes it much more stable, and when it is flexing up, it has the weight of the vehicle pushing on the wheel rather than just the weight of the axle
