Hi guys, Can you spray start ya bastard into a diesel engine? ENgine turns over freely but wont start, plenty of fuel so no dramas there. And where would you spray it?
Oh yeah and the engine's been sitting for four months.

fuel may have drained back.
pump the primer pump untill hard.
if it doesn't go just undo one of the injection pipes slightly (ie 1/2 a turn). crank it over untill fuel starts to spray out.

are the glows working?

otherwise spray a bit of engine start into the intake AFTER the turbo.

If you really have to, use a very very small amount and disable the glow plugs/glow screen first. I once sprayed a bit into my 3B and it made the worst sounds I've ever heard from a diesel engine.

If fuel is getting to the injectors and it's still not going then check the compression.

Try towing it with another car and crash start it.

if its turning over fine then there is no point trying to crash start it.

with engine start don't use to much otherwise it will hydrolock.

engine starts fine all it will do is knock a bit. just spray it up the intake pipe.

if itsd been sitting for awhile you usually have to bleed them up, crack off your bleed nipple witch is on the "in" fuel line into injection pump and pump the hand primer, untill you can tell the diesel has no air in it, try it so start, if not crack off your injecter lines at injecters, crank untill only fuel is coming out - not bursts of air, if still doesnt go, check if its glowing, if you have power to your glow plugs then your glow plugs maybe at fault, pull them out and plug 12v into them, they should go red hot, look for a variation between them then you know witch one or two or three or four may be knackerd. A mate of mine had trouble with glowing he used to boil up a jug of water and tip that over the glow plugs and was enough to get him started
