I'm stripping the pto winch to service and unseize free wheel system.have removed free wheel hub,end housing etc on the other end have removed side cover, worm gear(pinion?)large bronze gear still on shaft,to me looks like drum has seized to the drive shaft which I dont think it should.going to press the drum off shaft that way I should be able to remove drive shaft/bronze gear all as one out the other end???
is this a common problem?
is there something I've missed thats stopping drum from coming off?
Cheers Shane

Bush in the drum is likely to be rusted to the shaft. Soak it in diesel or penetrating oil and then press the drum and gear housing off the shaft and wheel.

I tryed too press shaft through drum today and it popped out quite easy,no damage to bush or shaft,in fact most of the main components seam to be in pretty mint condition(just looks rough on out side)all the seals are stuff though.
cleaning parts takes most of the time.
Whats the correct oil to use?

Yup, its thick stuff. Decant some off into a 750ml Pump bottle and place it in a container of warm/hot water so it becomes more fluid, makes it easier to fill the housing.
Rotate the plate on the end of the gear housing 180° so the filler is at the top. Any excess from overfilling will squirt out the breather when you work it hard. Alternatively, setup a remote reservior for it.
