noisey magpies annoy me early early in the morning.
they are out of shot gun range for sure, and almost 22 magnum range.
the distance from my deck to the required fence is about 200 m ( not yards )

at this range some of my allies said a 22 magnum would be ideal to rid myself of these birds ( 5 of them ).
what would you use , thinkin of the ammo cost as well as ??
biosecurity ( doc )have given me a magpie quad trap, but it s a hawk feeder, the hawk sets it off and then pulls my neckk chops up and eats the bait for @#! sake,

let us know what you would use , ??

Pop down to your local Hunting and Fishing store, buy a hawk decoy and a distress tape and knock the buggers off with a silenced 22 from 50m. You should get all of then in one sitting

I would use my .270 as its zeroed at 200m but ideally a .22 magnum or any of the new .17/.22 calibers or even a centerfire .22 like a .222 or .223 would be sweet. Just make sure there is some land or hills behind the birds as even those light .22 pills can travel quiet far.

.22 would be fine. Don't even need camo to shoot em with a tape playing aye. Can get owl decoys too if you can't find a hawk one. They will catch on though if you miss them a couple times so make it count.

It might be a bit light mate, I mean a 250gr FMJ round at 3000fps might not get enough penetration on a thick skinned maggie HAHA. Actually wouldnt mind a Sako TRG .338 lapua magnum.!!! Fun times playing sniper.
