hi good 4wds
fuel econ is the real issue unless its lpg but even those never die of thirst.
have a good look around the steering box and chasis for any warpage or cracking, these models are renowned for it,ive seen a s/box actually fall off one, the only thing holding it was the p/s plumping.
just general drive line ,and make sure the centre diff is operating as it should ,because new parts arnt cheap for these big earthmovers.
all the best with youre new 80 and hope its up to mechanical standards.

I once owned a dual fuel 80 series petrol/LPG - very capable vehicle, but fuel economy was frightening: 16-18 highway, 12-14 around town, 9-12 off-road. Lower numbers reflect running on LPG. Even on LPG you need deep pockets.
Have you driven the 80 series Diesel's ... if you haven't, drive your mates petrol and then test drive a Diesel !

yeah good call,very wise decision.
but note, also beware of the h model engine (4.2diesel turbo)the are famous for running bearings,so get a warranty on the engine and you cant go wrong.
hope it all goes well for ya mate.
