y60 a/m turbo 4.2 Nissan

I know this sounds ridiculous but-----------The recent donor motor we fitted LOST 6LT of oil in 3000kms BUT DOES NOT LEAK ANYWHERE.
The engine had sat for about 18 months and was only started 3-4 times over that period.
Is this common with older engines that have not been used , after doing a roll over?
