Started a couple days ago building a winch bar for Bubbles pajero should have most of it finished this weekend

I only get 2 hours each morning to work on it before work

What happened to that Zuk you were chopping up for her?

Sitting behind the garage I picked up the pajero for $1000 dollars and it will be road legal unlike the zuk which I would have to tow all over the place after I finish all the bar work on the pajero I will finish off my truck then start on the zuk as a long term project like Nibs 40

Whats sort of Pajero is it? Learn't all my highway driving in an 88 LWB Diesel Paj and its still one of the nicest 4wds I've ever driven. Really smooth and good for learners as they are IMPOSSIBLE to stall. Just didn't like hills. Post up some pics if you have time

Just to keep on topic, Safari went to her new owner today. Now have the cash to throw at something a bit smaller. Going to miss it come camping season/summer

ripped my winch off to strip down for repair...





not too pretty eh... but after 10 odd years of me abusing it and i dont know how many years it was on a wrecker truck for its done a fair old bit of work

so now im gonna get a new gear set made for it and it will do another 20 years of hard work

ohh and in the process of pulling front shocks out to throw in the bin and remove starte motor and then remove radiator then pull the steering collumn to bits then... then... then...

gonna be a busy night!!

Going to pinch all the piping from "Purple PIg" the drift R31Silo to use to put a top mount intercooler on the GQ.
The way it is going the "Pig" wont have much left to put it back together,I want to swap it for an MQ swb plus another for spares but, son is being stubbon and says we can`t afford to have two 4x4s on the road but, he wants to get the MQ and turn it into a comp rig,guess it will come down to who can shout and argue the most,me,me,me,me

Her first 4wd was a desiel model of this so I know what fixing them is like

off up to woodhill in a couple hours to play in the sloppy slop

Not sure what shipping will cost you but surely these should be replaced under warranty? You've only had about 2 trips on them haven't you?

got them from the states so freight would make it not worth while to send them back?, in the process of talks with them to see if they will do some sort of refund? not holding my breath tho.

they have done a round of laurie sanson, waitawheta thompsons trip, half northland W/C and a play day up thomos then rotorua W/C where they blew out satday night half way thru a stage. so in the grand scheme of things they have done bugger all work in the 6 months ive had them.

im rebuilding it mate

but going to get the gear set made by precision gears in rotorua as they have done a few gear sets for winches like mine in the past and have a pretty good reputation for doing nice work.

making progress with the rest of the repairs tho, got the broken steering arm stud out and replaced, radiators out and ready for cleaning,got my wiper control unit apart to see what busted in there...need another one i think as it munted inside bit to hard on the wiper stalk on saturday night stages i think

and a heap of other stuff that i cant remember ... another coffee then back to the garage

yorick used to use them when we were running the roadsweepers they did a great job. they have come along way since then they used to run out of 3 small units in a yard in panmure

i remember reading a thing in classic car magazine and one of the writers was asking if there might be someone who could help fix a gear in a clock for an alfa romeo he ended up taking it to GCS and they had no problem helping him out

THIS IS AS FAR AS WE GOT, NEED SOME MORE PARTS THAT WE CAN'T GET TILL MONDAY

Wandered to Matamata and picked up a free stock TJ roll cage (cheers Pirate... thanks for the coffee, and I hope the washer worked out well for ya), and got home and prepared it for modification. After stopping in Matamata, proceeded to Roto-vegas and picked up a TJ Hardtop, also a cost free donation.

All in all a great day, free stuff all round.

me and me bro (sublime) went to Port Waikato for a Sunday drive, took dogs for a run around, just a easy bita 4wheelin as my trucks been off the road for over a month doing a bita maintenance, and it was Sublimes first trip out with all his new gears on..

No dramas today which was sweet, except i suspect my clutch is on its way out...
so we all ready for the bush run next weekend

Worked on my truck today, removed carpert, adjusted wheels bearings, rubber flares.

removed front springs & steering arms from swb chassis yesterday and today fitted onto white whale seems too have lifted it bout 2'' so whole rear end next weekend .....

Got the rear diff out of my bush truck, bloody effort that was. Ended up having to cut through the u-bolts and the front fixed pins

I couldn't believe how hard it was to get the rear shackle pins out of bushes either Had to take the diff off springs first then put the high lift jack between the two pins and jack them out - could actually see the I beam of the high lift bending

Looking at doing an SOA in the rear - will start up a build thread once a little more progress is made...
