Hey! from a new guy

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and 4x4ing in general. I don't have a truck yet, but intend to buy one in the immediate future. I've got my eyes set on a Nissan Safari. I'm after a LWB manual non turbo. I'm not intending to do any extreme off roading, but want something that is capable of dealing with a bit of mud. It'll also be my daily, so want it to be comfy. If you've got any ideas let me know.
Also, what are common problems, and common areas for rust?
Is there any reason to steer away from the RD28T? I'm after a TD42, but in case a good deal comes up I'd like to know what I'm dealing with.
I live in Auckland (shame), but grew up in the mighty Waikato. Not a JAFA at heart
