80 Series Auto Lockup Control Not Working

Hi,

A little while ago my lockup started playing up a bit, when slowing down sometimes it would not unlock until I had almost stopped and would almost stall the engine and occasionally it would not lock when driving along. Now it does not lock at all.

Has anyone else had this problem, I am guessing it is a solenoid valve? that was a bit sticky and now is stuck.

The only reference I can can see in the manual in a picture is an Overdrive Solenoid but no infromation about this. Does this control the lock up, if not what does.

Any help appreaciated.

Thanks
Tim

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for the reply, only problem is I am not sure where it is located, is it inside the transmission and if so can it be accessed from the pan underneath, or is it located on the outside of the transmission.

Any pointers would be helpfull.

Thanks
Tim

i havent pulled down a a440 yet but ... basically you pull of the pan .. undo a 10mm bolt and terminal and thats it.. just a matter of getting the right one ... from my understanding all lockup functions are eletrically controlled ... where as the box itself is a hydro box
give me a yell once you get the pan off if you want .. of just post up some picys
