They are a very good motor but are under powered for most people.
I don't know whether they will bolt up to yours and even if they do the ratios may be different.
Cheers Richard
Do you know what box comes out standard on the back of a 5L?

You should just need to swap the bellhousing for a diesel one and also replace the clutch fork release bearing for a diesel set up also.
Then your 5L should bolt straight up.
G52 and W56 can run behind 5L as standard

Bought a cooked LN131 3L surf with another G52 but hopefully right pattern bellhousing.
So now with the 5L from hiace -
all the necesary diesel bits hilux doesnt have from the LN131 surf- filter - loom - mounts - bell housing
mechanical injected intercooled turbo set up from a previous surf 2lt
and the yn106 hilux its all going into
hopefully all thats needed is to chop engine mounts an move approx forearm - elbow length back and run a few wires to injector pump an it will go.
last time i chopped an welded up some driveshafts the ute got a weird vibration - up til the point it let go an shaft went flying at 4000RPM,
Driveshafts are balanced, like coxsy said. There are plenty of places in wellington that can balance them, your lucky you were not killed when your driveshaft let go.
I suggest you plan this conversion, make a list, do it once, do it properly

Hi
Thanks but I am Not interested in your views on safety, they seem quite exagerated and seeing as you know nothing about the conversion that had my weld let go maybe you shouldnt comment.
I am after information on the current conversion - If you have any valuable knowledge about it let me know.If you have none to offer apart from safety warnings dont post in here
You may also find that no amount of planning can have a project done all in one hit - when you start modifying things you will find this out, if you can get everything planned an done then your not really modifying much
Mate, your a [Edit].
1. Nobody can over exaggerate safety
2. You dont know me, you dont know what i do for a job, you dont know what ive modified.
Its seem your a very angry person, this is a online forum, the title of your topic says 'advice needed' i gave you just that.
Good luck with your conversion, and i hope nobody from ore, or new zealand is around when you drive it.
Cheers Daniel

I havent had any experience with the driveshafts falling off so not getting into the safety side of it but I had an unbalanced driveshaft in my previous LJ....which I initially thought were just the tah's...apart from the bad vibrations ....it wore out the flange that it connected on the diff and wore out the oil seal, was a pain to find another flange as all the replacements I found were worn as well..........it also caused unnecessary wear on the UJ's as well which I had to replace....
If you are doing a chop it may be worth getting it balanced.... brian howat balanced mine and is really good with these and cheap.....

Well, here we go again.
Hey dude (
not allowed to call you maate, apparently)
Lets recap shall we..................
whitetrash wrote:
Any answers or suggestions would be great.
Thanks
You asked for suggestions
Lynx offered some suggestions to you, including an idea on how you could make your life last a little bit longer.
Instead of taking those suggestions on board, you chose to knock his relevant ideas and shoot him down some more.
Yes I disagree with him calling you a cock, but some people like yourself just call it as you see it.
This is a forum for 4wders, where ideas are offered and advice is given, How you choose to accept the advice is entirely up to you, but my advice to you would be to disregard anything you don't like.
If you're not happy with a comment, then just let it go. If you ignore it then that person won't come back and call you names and we won't have to read pages of catfights.
As you have probably realised, Bulletproof has edited his posts to remove them, probably due to your immature reactions.
That could be your downfall coz that man has a wealth of information that I'm willing to bet he will no longer share with you.
This is only my 2c worth to try and let you know a little more of how internet posting works etc etc
I will be gone now and will refrain from any further posting in any of your topics.
Also you probably won't like our trips we run, but if you decide to come on some, then you are most welcome, but if your attitude on here relates to your attitude out in the real world, then its probably best if you stay away.
Ain't it a shame you can blacklist someone on a forum

This forum doesn't owe you any favours, if you're going to post on it then be prepared to accept what other people have to say.
You want advice yet the one person who has probably the best performing modified 5L in New Zealand doesn't want to give you his advice because of your attitude.
When I come to put a 5L in my truck to replace my 2LT then I'm sure people will help me
