Something sounds wrong to me.

Without power the locker shouldn't be engaged

Gotta agree with Bulletproof here Coxsy, it souldn't be locked if you have not had power to the solenoids. Have you disconnected the vacuum tubing at the diff end to see if it unlocks?

maybe one of the valves is leaking and letting vacum through or the hoses are round the wrong way.(on when it should be off etc)
if it hasnt been used for a while may also be sticky in its operation.

Make a guard round the diaphragm so it wont get damaged, theres not much room because of the panhard swing but worth doing,I'v already smacked mine still works though.

Jack one rear wheel and try to drive off jack

with both rear wheels off ground - will spin in opposite direction when unlocked and same direction when locked in

If it is an ARB it is impossible to be engaged with no air pressure because the compression springs disengage it.

Undo the air pipe at the diff and try again

Gotta ask Coxsy, did ya pull the diff out and have a look at everything before you slapped the axle on. If not, I would be pulling the thing apart. At least that way you will get a better understanding of how it all goes together and works. If your locker is engaged on tarseal, you will crack the dog gears and round the edges off, it will not stay locked then. Been there, done that. Keep us posted. Are all the vacuum lines clean and unblocked. Had a problem with mine on weeknd, line came off would not disengage even when line put back on, problem was line was full of mud.

Somewhere on this forum a couple of years ago I posted up where you could buy aftermarket solenoid values to work the vacuum, industrial grade.

I used the solenoids from a Surf. The ones that are used to activate the dog clutch in the front axle. They seem to be very reliable and because of that and how many around they are very cheap. Come in a nice bracket as well.
