fuel pump relay?

does anyone know where the fuel pump relay on a 1991 auto 8v escudo is? it is the box screwed up next to the ecu under the dash by steering wheel? has two plugs going into it, and a whole lot of numbers on it?
and ...
would the fuel pump relay have anything to do with the single point injector not gettting any power?

Pretty sure the relay only controls the fuel pump and the ECU controls the injector.
Check the plugs on the tank for 12V whne the key is on. If nothing the next connector is behind the pass side rear lights, then next connector is pass side foot well around the door hinges (somewhere about 12-18 inches above the floor).
If they are all good then the fuses (probably should be the first port of call actually).
Relay is mounted on the ecu mount on the drivers side up beside the fuse holder.

ill start from the beginning...
zuk started running out of petrol when i know it had petrol, traced the problem to the fuel pump not getting power. assumed it was relay problem. i wanted a switch for the fuel pump anyway, so instead of fixing the relay we wired in a fuse and switch from ignition 12 v to pump. pump works fine now.
but...
zuk still would not run... i found that petrol is being pumped into "carb" but is not being sprayed down butterfly thingy by the single injector. if i pour fuel down carb it runs. injector has two wires going to it, which do not have power. if i give the wires 12v then i hear the injector click, and it sprayes fuel, and car runs.
any idea what the problem is?
is the injector problem related to the fuel pump problem / new switch?

The fuel pump relay is attached to the ECU as you describe.
Sounds like your ECU is dying. They are notorious for crapping out, and they often fail slowly with intermittent or random faults like you are describing.
The capacitors inside the ECU fail and leak their contents onto the circuit board. You can often fix them by cleaning up the board and replacing the capacitors.

do a search for ECU problems on google there are tons of links to this well known problem.

thanks heath, i looked it up, found a good website which explained the problem that the ecu's have which cause this injector to stop. i had an electronics guy replace the capacitors, but still does not work

any other ideas?
does anyone ( in auckland) have a spare ecu i can try?

I have one with that part number. I haven't checked it to see if it works yet, but if you want to borrow it to see if the ECU is your problem you are welcome to.

i am still having problems with this! Ben... i still have your computer. i gave up fixing it myself and took it to a sparky, he confirmed the computer was dead, he tried Ben's on in it too and said it didnt work either.
has anyone had them repaired? is it worth it? having a bit of trouble finding a second hand one.
Rotazuk... can you still get one? does anybody want to sell me one? any ideas where to buy one?
Thanks
Changed numbers too

Bot yours and ben's computer is dead ? Did Ben know his computer was dead , or did he think it was a good one ?
I can get one but not plugging it in until you figure out if the wiring is fring the ecu's

. I would be inclined to work backwards and test your ecu in a working vehicle , can do that one weekend but not this side of the holidays I am afraid . The vehicle is in storage at a rallies place unfortunately . Maybe ben can run it on his zuk ?

Thought it was good, but never tested it.
Do you still have the bypass wiring running the fuel pump, or is it hooked back up to the factory relay? I would hook it back up as per stock, and test to see if the fuel pump relay is working.
The fuel pump relay not only supplys power to the fuel pump, but also the ECU.
Once you have it hooked back up, disconnect the start wire from the starter motor, and turn the key on. The ecu should pulse the fuel pump for a second and then stop.
Then turn the key to start. The fuel pump should now run continuously - this is just the key doing it, not the ecu.
That will check your fuel pump wiring, whether your fuel pump works, and if your ecu is getting power and running enough to pulse the fuel pump.
