well as it says my 5mge is pissing around again, what i have done is new leads fuel filters, ok now what it is doing, started it up yesterday morning sweet as idled rev'd good as, drove it to the servo to put air in the tyres(it's about a 5 minute drive) temp just got up there so i turned the truck off to air up tyres but when i started it back up it was farting missing and not reving out the drive back was shit like it had droped a few cylinders, thats when i changed all the fuel filters, but no difference

, so please help if you can, lossing total interest on the truck and 4wheeling slowly if i can't get it sorted, got to be something simple

fuel pump?
earth issue with coil?
cracked dizzy cap?
could be a number of things
start with fuel and air then check every thing
check to see that the airflow meter is not jamming
things like that

there will be a small hole in the cross over pipe to the AFM Craig. (well maybe

)
Bend the flexy rubber pipe and look for cracks in it.

A corroded dizzy and a dodgy AFM were the source of my motor running ruff. Was all intermittent too.

I would second that one, that bastard pipe hates me! I think i have a spare computer and air flow meter in my spares kit. If you get stumped you could try them for trouble shooting but i would like to keep them.

"temp just got up there so i turned the truck off"
Sounds like it was running lean
"when i started it back up it was farting missing and not reving out the drive back was shit like it had droped a few cylinders"
Sounds like an airflow meter issue check the connectors, plugs and wiring check the earths too

well started it up after lunch and guess what it started idled and rev'd sweet as no probs so i let it idle until the temp got up to it's normal temp and guess what started to surge and play up but while it was cold good as gold so once it is hot thats when it all goes to custard farting and surging

any other ideas to sort this prob out otherwise it might be heading into the shop

I'd be guessing temp sensors then?

I had a very similar problem with my 2jz, did excatly the same as yours, ran like shit when it got hot, turned out it was damp in the valley where the plugs were, as it got hot the damp air turned to steam and the spark was shorting out, couldnt see any water or steam when the problem happened, I just got in there with a bit or crc and it soon came right.

the temp sensors on those things are known for causing funny probs, warm it up, when its missing hee are 2 plugs up bt the water outlet, un plug them 1 at a time.

Dont the ECU's in a closed loop while engine warms up (ignore the AFM) and then apply the right mix etc from then. Perhaps a dirty/faulty AFM or oxy sensor in the exhaust.
Dunno just guesses from me.
