Ideally you would put a matched crown wheel and pinion in for smooth and quiet running, if how ever you have a crown wheel and a spare pinion from different sets then rock on, life span may not be great, it may be noisy, i have done it in a vehicle years ago and could not hear it over the V8 anyway,

Cheers

You cant just fit the pinion by it self because they are a matched pair with Crownwheel so you have to fit both.

Up until 1990 cruiser front and rear diff had the same ring and Pinion.
After that they had a reverse cut in the front

If you look at the stub you will see the Axle has a flange that is bolted in on a fully floating. If you undo those bolt the axle will pull out.

On a semi floating they have C clips in the diff that holds the axles in.

Big Difference and a Semi floating won't fit in the front diff.

you can use the front head in the rear .just need to run the block and pin in between the side gears and make sure the side gear shims are a snug fit when installed
