St James consultation closes 14 Sept

The St James conservation area is alongside the Molesworth and was acquired by DOC in 2008. It contains several 'unformed legal roads' that DOC conveniently ignore. DOC do suggest that some seasonal 4x4 access could be allowed to the east of the Waiau River along two existing formed routes.
It is essential that four wheelers support that proposal as a minimum and push for a wide seasonal window since the terrain is mostly rocky. Winter access along the Edwards Pass (legal road over much of it's length) would be interesting when frozen.
Get writing now and ensure that DOC get your comments by Monday 14 Sept.
