88 Rangie (3.5l) with transfer / gearbox 'clunks'

Post by markm »

You guessed it - too much slop in the drive train / transfer box so at some point, she is going to go bang.
My question, what 3.9l motors etc fit into it ? Presumably all Disco's and later Rangies. Anything to watch out for ?
OR should I just recondition what I have??
Cheers

All the 3.9's etc will fit in with a minimum of fuss. I've been told by a rangie nut mate, that the early analogue 3.5 efi system is better than the later digital efi for hard off roading, and will bolt straight on and run a 3.9.

Look at getting a 3.9 auto and t/case all in one from a wrecked disco... saves rebuilding your old box and t/case
