Hey guys, just a few questions:
Is it possible to raise a terrano higher than stock by getting new springs and adjusting the torsion bars if you have monroe 4x4 adventure shocks?
i want to give my terrano a spring lift by about 40mm and just dont have enough money to buy new shocks, when basiclly new shocks are already in it.
the only other way of finding out is accually getting the shocks out, but i dont know how to put them back in.

generaly the same way you took them out but in reverse ie undo bottom mount remove shock so bottom is free then undo the top mount

kewl, thanks, will do that tommorow. accually had a look at them today and saw that they were rather easy to get to.
is it just easier to lift it up with a jack to see how much give they have?
Also, How well do these shocks handle offroad use? i have heard that they are good from a few people, but would like to find out more.

The biggest waste of money I ever spent on a 4x4 was fitting Monroe shocks! Spend a little bit more and get a set of shocks designed for offroad use ie OME, EFS, etc. The difference is huge!
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.

Have a serious think before you go lifting your Terrano with a suspension lift. You will have to get a wheel alignment after you have done it and it places more stress on the steering components which is the weak point in most IFS 4wd's. What are you trying to achieve with a lift, you need to ask if you really need it. I think you would be better off fitting a set of 31" MT's and doing a body lift if necessary.
I'm not trying to discourage you but I know your'e a young fella and suspension lifts in IFS trucks often lead to more $$$$ down the track.

He's right to a degree. If you are only ever going to do the soft stuff it will be ok, but once you start doing the harder stuff it will break, been there, done that

You can re-index the torsion bars by undoing them, sliding out the spline giving it a twist a few splines then reinsert and wind up. This way you can maintain the give in the torsion bar suspension work. You can get calmini front and rear suspension kits for them that strengthen all the suspension components, seems to work. One of my mates has done this and although he aint doing the chasm in it he is doing Lake Daniels and other grade 4-5 tracks.

i wont be doing all the hard stuff in it, if i decide that i really like 4x4ing then i will get a project 4x4, and do it properly.
i want to raise it up for a bit more cround clearance, and so that when i can afford bigger tires i can just trow them on without having to wait till i get it raised.
i just took the runerboards off and this has helped a little, but i still need a bit more clearance for the places that i want to go.

If you want more clearance for tyres then a bodylift will be cheaper and cause less issues as it doesn't alter the drivetrain at all. I am going to put my 2" bodylift kit in soon (hopefully). When it's done I will bring it to work and you can have a look at the clearance I have, I am running a new set of 31" mud terrains.

Sounds good, sorry i havnt takin my terrano around yet, been busy with stuff and the power sterring decided to crap owt on me, aswell as the lowbeams. and still gota catch some stuff up on it.

I have used monroe adventure shocks on a couple of my club trucks now and have found them good.
They also handled 2" lift no problem - retaining articulation.
Quite a few club guys use them and no problems anywhere that I know of.

i have monroes and they are great. i got mine with 50mm extra travel and i still have my flex and had them for over 2 years.

i am looking for an advise regarding the shock absorber, actually the shock absorbers that i am using got bad. i was damage and i need to replace it with a new, however, the new shock absorbers that i bought does not fit. so what should i do? is there any remedy for wrong size of shock absorbers? thanks.

return them and get the right ones, also try taking in your broken shocks and get then to match the dimensions.
