Have you hooked up the glowplus wire? Tried glowing it more than once?

Did you get the timing right? I did a cambelt on one couple of weeks ago. They have a timing mark on the bottom cam pulley and another mark on the splash washer behind it? Had to do a trip to the library to find out which one to believe.

Also this one had problems with the glow plug timer turning off way too early. Put a push button it which sorted it. Its done 300 000km and takes about 15-20sec glow in the morning.

Good luck

Tom

Here's the manual I put up on here a while ago. Might help you.

Just remember the basics.... air - fuel - ignition. It has to have all to get it to go. If you've got good comp and there's fuel at the injectors, possibly a timing issue.

Are you sure it is not 180 out, I did exactely the same as tomsoffroad the 1st time I did one. You soon know by taking the intercooler pipe off and seeing if it sucks or blows.

Once you are certain its right, why not give it atow start? Even without glowplugs that gets them fired up pretty promptly.

An old 4D56 won't start at all without glow plugs.
