ls1 into 80series landcruiser

Post by cool__bananas »

hi all, i was just wondering if anyone has or knows anyone that has put a ls1 into a 80series landcruiser? it has a 1fzfe which is the petrol 4.5L. Ive heard that the aircon pump needs to be moved to clear chassis rail and sump needs to be changed etc. but i was just wanting to know what people here have learnt rather than some random in a different country haha

cheers mitch

sorry for the thread jack coz I know you want to find out how to shoehorn that thing into an 80 but whats the problem with the LS1 or is it the new spaceframe they dont like? Are there some competitors feeling a bit threatened or something?

Someone may be able to confirm or deny, but I thought 4wdupgrades in ChCh ran a V8 in their VX, not sure if its an LS1, but either way, they may be worth getting in touch with? (unless I'm wrong of course )

outerlimits have bulk threads on this, and some mean buildups, i have been looking at this aswell but either going to do ls2/3 or a big fat turbo on the 1fz fe, some cool wiring kits available for ls1 to 80, basically plug in and drive from marks adaptors, but here in nz you need to get them from 4wd upgrades(dont know of any ls1 to 80 series conversion personally, think mike talls had a ls1 in at some stage, it has had a couple of injected 8's in it, both chev i think)

4WD Services in Auckland (Ian Potaka) did this conversion a few years back in Aussie spec petrol 80 series.

Was on for sale a few weeks back but since sold. Was talking to new owner briefly at Taupo other week and vehicle is still around Auckland area.
Is a manual version with LPG plus the standard petrol tanks (including sub tank). Twin chrome or stainless snorkels and winch on front.

I talked to your old man about it and you definitely have my support (personally for now). It sounds like a whole lot of political crap. America's Cup comes to mind!!!!!!!!!
