Where Can I take Leaf spring to be reset
Hey...
I have one very badly sagged spring / so bad that I have an extended shackel giving 1.5" of lift to compensate and level the truck out ...
the spring sagged is the rear drivers-side...
Can anyone tell me Who will do spring reset in Wellington area .. and what sort of cost involved for 1 spring
... thanks

Get the quote in writing. I didn't and they tried to charge me twice what was quoted.

For that sort of money you could go new

It wouldnt hurt to check out the price of OME springs from grant guy if your spending that sort of money for a reset, I think I paid about $200 each for my front ones a few years back, they were the dakkar ones made in Mayalisa not the origional Aussie made ones

Could also try Superior Springs
70 series prado (KZJ78) and 90 Series Prado (KZJ95)
Re: Where Can I take Leaf spring to be reset
on another line of thought.
Are the springs installed on the right sides?
I know that Suzuki's can suffer from what is called the Suzuki lean. makes them look like one spring is badly sagged. it is caused by the springs being different spring rates and being installed on the wrong sides , drivers side has a higher rate to handle driver , battery , fuel tanks etc etc which are all on the same side.
Don't know if this would apply to Cruisers being a much heavier vehicle, but food for thought.

Rod Longsdale in the Waiarapa (featherston 4x4 club) has the gear to reset them and he is willing to show you as well.... don't have his number hands but he is in the phone book.

ive been told how to do it but i have not tried it yet. my chop needs a bit of spring sag so i will try it soon, basicly you split all the leaves then methodicly hammer along the spring over two higher points so ypou can introduce a new curve to the spring. apparently you need to measure each leave to make sure the curves are similar in profile to each other and you mark the shape on the bench in chalk to match them all together. i will check with my mate who told me about it and let you know. i also checked with inghams on hutt road and it was comparable to buying replacements. so basically if you can do it yourself it is worth reseting otherwise buying new ones is probably easier and at least you know they will work first time rather than paying a similar price imo
