Hope you are not going to drive it on the road because you can't steer and wont get a WOF

Even as a trailer Queen I still wouldnt do it as you can't turn tight

with a set of manual hubs on it I can't see how it could change anything on road (assuming in 2wd) you will also probably find that you will get a wof, I have never found a wof guy that ever checks a truck in 4wd. However it is a very rangi way of doing things, it will drive like crap off road and proves to be very dangerous when trying to go down a steep hill with a sharp turn at the top. I found it hairy enough in my old truck with an auto locker and would hate to think what a welded diff would be like. Chances of you smashing cv's will increase ten fold so not a great idea. Keep it open for the mean time and the money you save in cv's will pay for an auto locker in no time.

Just my 2cents

Ps. If you are smashing cv's at the mo with an open diff wind the torsions back a bit and drop the truck lower if you can, it will decrease the angle on the cv and make it last longer

mines welded in the front, its independant 2. never broken a cv, they seem 2 b alot stronger than solid front. snapped drivers side axel at the diff but that was when i was buried deep as in clay trying 2 winch up a 2 meter incline and clutchin it hard. otherwise drives good off road huge difference 2 single spinner goes anywhere now.
