Escudo diff gears

hi, can anyone tell me if the pinion gear in the 1600 auto
is the same as in the manual? cheers Al

Autos have a slightly higher diff ratio than the manual.
5.12 to 1 manual
4.8 to 1 auto
Some thing like that.

yeah im currently running man box with auto diffs and have been given
manual rear and man front but pinion gears are chipped i have 3 auto front diff spares so was hoping (ho ping?) a good man out of the lot..

Yes bit of a prop there.
Vitara/Escudo do suffer from being geared to tall.
If you need to buy some manual diff gears it will change you’r over all ratio, But not as much as lower transfer case gears. Which I am currently doing to my 1600 8 valve. Think its about NZ$1000, from memory. (Bad memory)
But iv got 5.1 manual gears any way.

All the 16v 1600 auto's I looked at all had 5.12 gears . I have not found any yet ( one sitting at pick a part but no time to check :( ) but I have been told it is only the 1600 carb 3sp auto's that had 4.62 gears .

So you most probably have all 5.12's .
