advise on surf 4runner

Hi guys,

Had a call from my brother in law about a surf/4runner he is looking at. It's a 92 4door 2.8 diesel done over 330k. basics inside (no electrics or aircon). He is looking for a comfortable travelling wagon with some 4wd ability (easy stuff) to take his young family out and about.

What do you rekon on price is 10k too much (I thought it was but wasnt sure)?

Any sugestions as to what to look for in these vehicles?

im not big on hiluxs but sounds expensive to me. was just on trademe and can get the 3ltr diesels with under 100ks for about the same....

he could get a 3L turbo surf for that price. way 2 much. i have a 91 4runner with 260ks top range with all electrics and paid $3500, it was a good deal off a m8 but you get the idea.

Yeah thats what I figured. $5k maybe but not 10k.

I have suggested that they make a list of the creature cumforts they want and then shop using that list.

Aircon would have to be a must for travelling with kid's just to keep things cool (wish I had it in the lux) and the 3lt surf was what I suggested they look out for.

a mate of mine brought an 89 surf with the same motor done simalar kms with aircon. motor needed rebuilding but still only owes him $2500. 10k sounds way way to much!

unless shes had a beam conversion and truckloads of other goddies shes worth no more than 5k ,its only a 3l engine :roll:
