any body done this or seen or heard of it????????
took my truck for a blast yesterday after been sitting for 6 weeks, and realised just how friken reliable and faultless it is, doesnt miss a beat and just seems to get beter since removing the l.p.g.... i need more power, been tossing up for a long time what to do.... what repower options i have... so why not strap a turbo on??????
its had a 2k worth of recoed done to it 60,000 ks ago,itl be cheaper than any repower option and considering price/power increase its gota be than cheapest option... yea i could spend $$$$ on a repower but why not just try turboing it and see how it responds?
its a petrol 3y

Do it and make lots of entries on the build thread and take lots of photos and then I will copy exactly what you did to mine
It would make a lot of sense actually. It is not like you can make the fuel economy any worse.

yea righto, yep thats how i see it, and if results are good and i blow the engine, simply buy another 3y and do the internals and change over all the gear

i would do a 3rz swap, i read a good thread on pirate and apparently the engine mounts match on the 3Y mounts
Then turbo or super the 3rz
just my $0.02

yea thats what ide ideally want to do, yep they bolt up to y series mounts, but like i said, for now this might be a cheaper option, a 3rz will cost between 1-2k + exhaust + getting someone to do wiring, ide allow $3k for a 3rz conv + teething probs

yea i can understand that too ae, my mate fully rebuilt a 3y with a planed head and cam job and big carb all the old tricks came out quite nice went hard but it drinks like mad, have you done an exhaust on yours? you might be suprised how it changes it, from memory you run the two pipes off the exhaust manifold quite long to gain more torque, but then you can spend a ton on money and still not have the power you want.
id say save up for the 3rz and do it properly first time.
