Hi Guys
Im looking at getting my 1st 4WD and am looking at this...
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 590101.htmIs there any thing I should be looking for for this particular model?
Any common problems???
What are the TD27 Engines like and with 260kms on the clock should i be getting a leakdown/compression test done?
Any advice is appreciated
Cheers
Leon

Terrano's/Pathfinders have a big rust problem at the back of the rear seats, more info is here
http://www.lvvta.org.nz Front stearing components are prone to breaking when pushed hard offroad......
Petrol V6 Models are thirsty.....
For that money you can get a Patrol/Safari which is more capable offroad and easier to modify/can do more with it..., they often come with factory difflocks and pto winches.

It would want to come with a couple of years free gas, servicing, RUC,s and Wofs for those sort of dollars.
Good truck for average use but as stated above can have issues if pushed hard off road. The rust is a major. Lift the rear seat bases and sound deadner and have a good look.

They are a bloody good and capable truck, check for the rust as stated above. Steering components will wear quicker if you do suspension lifts but that too depends on how hard you push it. Drive like an old fart off road like me and it will last ages.

ive owned 3 terranos 1 pretty seriously set up and 4 safaris, i know which i prefer and i will stick with my safaris. the terrano is bloody good and very capable.................if you buy a petrol be well aware that fuel stops will be very very frequent, i couldnt believe a v6 could use that much fuel, in fact a v8 rangie was more economical (just).

I had a V6 (manual 5 speed) Terrano and I didn't think it was that bad? It was cheaper to run than a TD42 Safari when you took into account ruc and servicing. Funnily enough I was really happy with the economy taking into account that it is a realatively big petrol 4x4.

Ha Ha !! Thats what I said when I bought my first 4wd. Then I met the wrong people (or right depending on your point of view) and ended up with a hghly modified vehicle. If any of your mates are serious 4WDers you will end up wanting a more capable truck so go for the Safari/Patrol option.

Nah, eventually you'll just go in a big circle. Terrano, Safari (spend a lot on it), back to Terrano (and fit lots of Safari bits to it).

Na thats just you

Most people move fowards, mind you most people don't completely rebuild something into something that looks the same but isn't
