Just failed a WOF yesterday for too much play in the ball joints for the front right wheel, how hard are these too replace? has anyone done this before?

I see just jeep has them on trademe for 100....

You need a special, Jeep specific removal tool. Tried to find one to buy and a local source was going to charge about $500.00 for one, sourced from the US. (a friend has recently made one apparently) Last ones i did i bit the bullet, and took it to Wingers in Hamilton and they did both sides for $100 with me supplying the balljoints. (from JJ on TM)
