Sister in Laws Pajero won't idle, has been suggested that it is because of the Idle Speed Sensor.
Does anyone have one spare?
Or any other suggestions as to why it won't idle?
Sometimes its fine(not often), sometimes idles at 1500RPM, but most times it doesn't idle at all.
Also her speedo has stopped working and she has asked for a wiring diagram and any hints as to what may be wrong.
Any help appreciated.

My Mates truck usedto do the same thing, i think we wound up the idle a bit to bring it back, and the speedo is cable driven. so it could of come lose or broken.

Can't wind up the idle as occasionally it runs at 1500 rpm already.
Speedo is electronic

Could stick it on a Scan tool to see if fault codes come up and go from there..
its not a fuse blown or anything like that for the speedo?

She has checked all the obvious, fuses etc.
She is a mechanic but hasn't come across this before.
She lives in Reefton and has no access to a diagnostic tool.

Cool, I'll get back to you once I find out if the 3 and 3.5 litre ones are the same.
How much would you want for it?

HAve you looked at the idle stepper motor? The idle is controlled by the stepper motor than sits under the inliet manifold. Well known for gunking up and not working properly as the crankcase breather is right beside it.
SWB V6 Paj with one or two mods
