32's on a 2.8 Pajero

Post by northland_pajero »

I have a 2.8 pajero (1996) I have a set of Safari 15x7 white spoke rims, I a looking at putting a set of 32x11.5x15 tyres on.

Sitting a 32 tyre next to the front wheel the other day they didnt look like they will fit without rubbing.

I have a winch on the front, and that does cause the front to sit a little lower, but the problem looked to be the guards at full lock.

Will 32' fit without having to do a lift?

How do I wind up the torsion bars at the front?

They will fit, you have a 30mm bodylift as std on the 2.8 so you can fit 33's no worries.

Thanks for your reply.

Do I need to wind the torsion bars up to make them fit?

I doubt it very much unless they have drooped a bit over time. The old man put 32's on his 3.0l which has less clearance than yours and no rubbing at all.

Oops, just saw your edit. With the winch you will probably have to give the front a bit of a crank. Don't bring it to level, Paj's feel a bit more stable with about 15 to 30mm difference in height from front to back, front being lower.

If your only gonna look at 33s max dont body lift it. Buy a set of 50mm lift rear springs for $250 and wind the front torsions up. Much better to do it thru suspension than body lift if you can afford the springs. It will also improve handling. I found mudstar 33s to be perfect on the 2800 deisel as they are a bit thinner than most 33s and allow the 2800 to spin them easier.
