Shit, I hope that's not true, I'm well and truly stuffed then. Still on the lookout for a shaft if anyone is in the know

Reckon I will have to build one, that will have to wait until next year as I need to buy tyres. I've re-fitted the electric until I can get a shaft sorted. Getting good at fitting an electric winch now, three hours including solenoids under the bonnett and in cab switch.

When i get one I can make you whatever shaft you want using mine as a pattern. I'll find some scrap 4140 steel shaft at work or similar. As long as you dont need me to machine universals and stuff. lol
Alternatively I could take measurements and send you mine. From what ive read half the shear pin issues are from wear of the shaft and i'd like to fix that (or will just weld up and re machine it)

The last 3 or 4 I've sold have been for over $1k. Thats a complete strip down and refurb as necessary.

I've only ever seen the MQ winches go for the $4-500 mark. The last GQ unit I saw was a rebuilt one, $500 for winch only
A good way to get your hands on one is to keep a look out for ones on vehicles that have no winch rope, or are obviously not used and make the owner an offer

Agree. I sent 3 complete MQ winches over to a dude in the States, and they were all in the $450-$500 region.

You can buy them for less than what I've sold them for...but you just have to take a punt on the wear and condition of them.

Is that not lifting capacity? Haven't seen an electric winch that small on a Safari, they were specced with 8000lb Warn winches as a factory option
