Manual to Auto

Post by motorhead »

Thinking of going to an auto from my parts truck, seemed to go well. Does the main ECU have anything to do the trans or can I just swap out the trans, xfer, shafts and consoul. Manual diffs are 5.28 and auto diffs are 4.73, any problem with the lower gears with auto, just went from 31s to 32s and can feel the change in gearing.

"Manual diffs are 5.28 and auto diffs are 4.73"

so the diffs currently in your wagon are the 5.28? is that the transaxle code? the donor 4.73 diffs sound strande.. ive never heard of that ratio that i can recall.i know of 4.875, 4.9, 4.636, and 4.625. in gen 2. differant ones for differant engine /trans combos.

either way.. you want to keep the 5.29 diffs as they will help with the bigger tyres.

cant be much help on the auto sidde as i have always steered clear of them. wouldnt have thought the diff ratios would have any effect on the trans itself as long as its the same ratio front to back.
