Due to the Laurie Sanson Series having a year off I have set up a Sponsored Fun rally.
Top Half Fun Rally for 2009 – 2010 Season

3 Classes

A Class
Road Registered and Warranted (Does not include Farm Registration) regardless of fitment of lockers, limited slip differentials etc

B Class

Minimum 15 hazards, including at least one but no more than Two Timed hazards with no Gymkhana type hazards, run over one day, Preferably a Sunday.

All score sheets to be handed or posted to Dan Barnett, 16 Pembroke Street, MOEREWA 0211.

A minimum of 3 rounds to be completed to score points for the series. Each competitors BEST THREE ROUNDS WILL BE SCORED FOR THE SERIES. In the event of a tie, placing decided on count back of hazards zeroed, then 10 points score, 20 points scored etc until a placing is decided. If alternative exits are used for different classes then points allocated are for the last section completed. E.g. The alternative exit is after completing the 50 point section then points awarded are 50 not Zero.

There will be no overall winner. At the completion of the Series, each class will be awarded trophies for the first 3 places, Certificates presented to all Competitors in each Round. Points will be preliminary until checked and verified by Dan Barnett.

Trophies and Certificates will be sponsored and the rally will be known as The Top Half Fun Rally. This is sponsored by PC Computer Consultants

There is no objection to the hosting club of any round using this event as part of their Club Champs, however any competitor only competing in the Club Champs must be clearly marked on the Score sheet.

Mitch, I dont care who does it, they wont be nationals type hazards tho, it's mainly a bit of fun and some seat time

If you have a decent roof then I dont see a need for a 6 point cage. The hazards should all be Club to Hard club type, not National type. Start off relativley easy and become progressivley harder as you move further in to them. Remembering that we will be having C & D Class national trucks competing so the hazards need to cater for them also.
There is no way that a A Class vehicle will be winning a day overall
We are all suppose to be adults and should have some idea if the vehicle is safe to use for what we are going to do.

We need to remember that a land owner has allowed us to use his land and we dont want to be having any accident that will drop him in it with OSH

Hi Guys
Spent quality time with my wife today checking out the roads in the area and checking directions so that I dont have to put up signs. Bull Road coming from Paparoa has had heavy fresh metalling carried out probably GAP 20. In a Escudo without a trailer on road tyres it was slippery that was without going quick, and it has got narrowing in places than it was 2 years ago

From Whangarei
Turn right into Mangapai Road
Approx 10.1 kms
Turn Left into Waiotira Road
Approx 6.8 kms
Turn Right into Mititai Road
Over Bridge approx 0.3 kms Left into Ararua Road
Approx 3.1 kms
Turn left into Bull Road
Approx 2.6 kms Gate on Left YOU HAVE ARRIVED Park on road side

GPS Co-ordinates E 174.189006 S 35.981904

Leaving from Paparoa
Paparoa – Oakleigh Road
Approx 9.7 kms
Turn Left into Central Road
Approx 1.3 Kms
Turn Left into Arcadia Road
Approx 3.4kms
Turn Right into Bull Road
Approx 11.3 kms
Gate on Right YOU HAVE ARRIVED Park on road side

NOTE This road has recently had fresh heavy metalling and was slippery without a trailer, Road is narrow to very narrow with more slips than when I went across it 2 years ago

Better Option
Leaving from Paparoa More kms better road less time
Paparoa – Oakleigh Road
Approx 33 kms of sealed road, After approx 25.6 kms road name changes to Paparoa Road keep going to End of road
Turn Left into Mangapai road
Approx 1.9kms
Turn Left into Waiotira Road
Approx 6.8 kms
Turn Right into Mititai Road
Over Bridge approx 0.3 kms Left into Ararua Road
Approx 3.1 kms
Turn left into Bull Road
Approx 2.6 kms Gate on Left YOU HAVE ARRIVED Park on road side

If Coming from Auckland
Come north to Oakleigh Caltex Service Station
Approx 0.9 kms
Turn Left into Mangapai Road
Approx 10.1 kms
Turn Left into Waiotira Road
Approx 6.8 kms
Turn Right into Mititai Road
Over Bridge approx 0.3 kms Left into Ararua Road
Approx 3.1 kms
Turn left into Bull Road
Approx 2.6 kms Gate on Left YOU HAVE ARRIVED Park on road side

Is that some sort of fancy "environmentaly friendly, renewable resource, carbon neutral" internal bead locking system leaking out the side of the front wheel? You going all eco friendly on us Dan?

And it hasnt rolled, they're just taking weight off the springs so they dont sag to much.
