Hello anyone that can help
Been looking at turboing my td42 and have most things sorted except turbo to suit.have been told about a nissan t28 turbo and have read the other postings about them but just wanna know...
Most importantly i have a turbo lying in the shed thats got garrett ar.60 m24 1-2 printed on it and compared it to a t28 on trademe and on trademe it has Garrett ar.60 m24 1-1 printed on it just wondering the differences in the 1-2 and the 1-1?
Are they a safe upgrade for the engine?
When the turbo comes on and runs out?
Im looking at just getting more go outa the ol girl and do abita 4x4ing and is daily driver so need power really
Cheers for any help
Andy

Hey dude. I recently went through this very same decision making process- during which time i spoke with a number of very knowledgeable people.
Generally the consensus is that anything will work

and bigger is better. Thats basically it.
I dont know how a T28 compares with a TD05 but from my limited knowledge I'm quite sure they are similar- so it should work fine.
Worst case scenario is that it runs out of puff too early and you have to change a few flanges with your new turbo- but thats no biggie

No i have a TD06 coming but have just done lots of research.
Throw a TD05 in (they are cheap) and blow like 15psi or something. You wont be disappointed by any stretch of the imagination. They do run out of puff a little up top if blowing lots of air but its not a big deal really.
A TDO5 16g BIGWHEEL from an evo4 or later is a bigger bet.
I dont know much about the numbers on them and all that jaz- I let smarter people than me work that stuff out and I just listen
Scroll through all the turbo threads here. There are lots of them and tons of info. Just make sure you take all of it with a grain of salt. MAny of the people commenting have not run a turbo on their TD42 and are just reading maps which did not give a terribly accurate picture. Better to listen to the people that are using the turbos and take their advice.
Anything you hear from me is 3rd hand

but the guys ive spoken to have done 5+ of the upgrades.

Guys I am also interested in a turbo. Anyone using the turbo glide kit from Aus. $2800AUD shipped using a garrett GT28 oil cooled. Thoughts or views on these kits would be appreciated?

Hey thanks for the threads but had read most and only found info on the AXT kits. Lots of info on custom builds which I've considered but thought a kit might be a good option.
