Escudo gearbox question

Hi guys, first post on here. I have a 1989 G16a SWB escudo and I'm replacing my stuffed auto trans with a 5 speed manual out of an 1991.
The guy I bought it off said it should be a easy swap but mentioned of the half dozen he'd wrecked he had one issue with a bell housing being to shallow or the like.
I've measured it up and the bell housing is almost 60mm shallower on this manual box. I'd be gutted to get the old one out, have this one bolt up to the engine then find that all the other mounts were offset by 60mm or so.
Has anyone got any knowledge of this?
