Hi looking ahead to the hot summer months (hopefully), I'm looking at putting a temp guage in the truck so I can see what temp the Auto Trans Fluid is.
Does anyone know what is the danger point for a holden auto??
In other words, what point should I be stopping to allow things to cool down?
Assume just an engine temp oil temp guage will do the trick??

fit a big arse cooler to the auto, i used a small car air cond radiator, then would not worry about temp

autos tend to run hotter than engines, my trans gauge is 80-180 if it gets above 100 i get worried....

find a river to drop the trans into

i ran the v6 with a supercharger thru a holden auto off road for a number of years, need to watch the 1st and second gear clutch packs, there is a heavy duty pack, std was like 12 clutches and the hd was about 15, numbers are vague, made a bit of difference, still ran big cooler, never boiled the trans and the computer never gave a warning light, apart from 1st to rev to 1st with about 3k rpm on, then it got a bit pissed!!!!
Cheers

Too many idiot lights bells and whistles will distract you from what you're supposed to be doing
Put a decent oil cooler in and it'll be fine. Check the colour of your fluid regulary, if its goes a tinge brown, replace. A good trans additive to prevent slip is sometimes worth while..
