Wagon was working great never an issue starting but now will not crank.
Headlights strong, conections good, fuses and fusable links good, relays all clicking away just no starter action. Have parts truck, will swap out starter but I don't think that's the problem
Am I missing something? Any help would be great :!:

Out work'n on it :x

Give the starter a light tap with a hammer.
Possibly the connection is a bit loose, I have that trouble with my L200.

Try the start relay located by the battery box they fail

Smacked it around with a long pipe, no room to swing a hammer. Tried to start it and it gave a little grunt but that was all, so it was the starter afterall.

Went to pull replacement from parts truck to learn how to get at the bolts...holy carp, it's tight up there. Swaped starters and away she went. :D :D

Thanks for help'n me give a big pop and pull my head out  it was just basic trouble shoot'n.

Cheers, Paul

The old starter may be able to be fixed cheaply, they have bushes in them which can be replaced. Get it fixed up as a spare....

Take the stuffed one to auto-sparky, I took mine to Bill Blackwell in Upper Hutt, sorted problem pretty quick.....glazing had built up on commutator.
Give the power in tab a twist so it makes a firm connection, stops it vibrating loose.

This might explain the starter grinding on occasion, gear not totally engaging. Is the gear reversable, if not might need a new one.

Bill sorts them out pretty good, mine sounded very different when he finished with it, just over $100 all up I think. He stripped, cleaned, and used some magic, no problems with it now.

As for the grinding, there may be something caught inside, or the glazing has bulit up.
